Our beginner
instruments are guaranteed to be in perfect playing condition, and
the pre-paid maintenance feature ensures that they will be maintained
for the duration of the rental period at no extra charge. We even
provide the use of a free loaner instrument should the instrument
need to be in our repair shop for more than a week. As an additional
benefit, Senseney Music customers at a qualifying school program enjoy free
pick-up and delivery to their school's band director.

Senseney Music Warranty
Senseney Music Inc. warrants all play condition repairs for 90 days and all repads for 6 months following the completion date. This warranty covers only the work of our service department. Exclusions include, but are not limited to, correction of manufacture defects, new damage due to mistreatment of the instrument and repairs done by other repair facilities or individuals.
Warranty coverage is subject to inspection and approval of the instrument in question by the Senseney Music service department and is void if repair of the instrument is attempted by anyone other than a qualified Senseney Music service technician during the warranty period.
All warranted repairs are double checked by two Senseney Music service technicians.
If you have a warranty claim or concern please contact the Senseney Music service department manager as soon as possible as time is of the essence when determining the cause of any problems.

Frequently asked repair questions
- How much will it cost to repair my instrument?
- Repair on band instruments can vary greatly depending on the instrument and problems that are occurring. We must see your instrument in order to give an estimate for the cost of the repair. This process takes only a few minutes and there is no charge or requirement that you have the suggested work done. We are also willing to work with you and your budget after seeing the instrument and discussing the options.
- How often should I bring my instrument in for repair - do instruments need a regular tune up?
- Yes, instruments do need regular servicing just like your car. We suggest you bring your instrument to our service center twice a year to be checked over. At that time we will check the instrument and if repairs are necessary we will give you an estimate on cost and time in the shop.
- Can you tune my band instrument?
- Band instruments are not tuned like a stringed instrument or keyboard instrument but if your instrument is in need of repairs or adjustments it can affect intonation. If it is playing unusually out of tune I suggest you bring it in to be checked over.
- What is the difference between a professional cleaning and a bath at home?
- A professional cleaning will clean out most of the debris and corrosion inside your instrument and allow it to blow freely again. A home bath will clean out the loose debris and help to prolong the need for professional cleaning.
- What is an ultrasonic cleaning?
- Ultrasonic cleaning is a process used to clean the corrosion out of your instrument. It includes disassembling and soaking in degreaser followed by drill brushing and then soaking in an ultrasonic machine followed by drill brushing and neutralizing. We have found this to be a more thorough and less harsh approach to instrument cleaning than the old fashioned chemical bath. It is also less harmful to the environment.
- What can I do to keep my instrument from needing repairs?
- Regular maintenance for band instruments is very important. Please see our maintenance links on this page for daily and regular maintenance for your specific instrument.
- What is normal wear and tear for a band instrument?
- If you play your instrument regularly some wear and tear is to be expected. Pads and corks will wear, valves and tubing will become dirty, even some dents and bent keys are not uncommon if you march or play in pep band with your instrument. It is very important to be careful when handling your band instrument in order to minimize accidental damage.
- Do I have to pay for repairs needed on my instrument if I purchased it from you?
- If you are currently making monthly payments for an instrument you are also paying each month for a maintenance plan and do not have to pay for most repairs. When you pay off your instrument you are no longer paying for the maintenance plan so the repairs are not covered unless you purchase an extended plan.
- Do you offer a maintenance plan for instruments that I already own?
- Yes. We offer a plan that is renewable each year. This is available for any instrument after it has been put into top condition in our shop or has been approved by the repair shop manager. Please contact the repair shop for details.
- Do you repair cases?
- We can do certain repairs on many cases including but not limited to replacing latches, handles, hinges, case feet and gluing linings.
- Do you repair stringed instruments?
- Do you repair pianos, organs or accordions?
- No, but the piano department may be able to give some recommendations.
- How long will I have to leave my instrument to get it repaired?
- This depends upon the time of year and our workload as well as the type of repair. We do have an appointment system that has proven to be very helpful in allowing customers to be without their instrument the least amount of time possible.
- Do you have loaner instruments to use while mine is being repaired?
- If you purchased your instrument from us we can provide a loaner on a first come first serve basis.
- Do you pick up repairs from my school?
- We do pick up from area schools outside the Wichita school district. Check our website for a list of schools that we do visit.
- Why can’t I buy the supplies from you and repair my instrument myself?
- Band instruments are very finicky and there is a great deal of skill in getting them to perform to their top potential. One small leak could mean the difference between an instrument that plays wonderfully and one that does not play at all. Please leave this work to our trained technicians.
- Why do I need to know the brand of instrument if I just need to buy a replaceable part?
- Unfortunately band instrument parts are not universal. Parts may vary from brand to brand or even model to model within a certain brand. It is best to bring the instrument in to the shop so we can be sure the part fits before you pay for it.
